Thankful for Alondra - Yaritsa’s Prayer Update

Hey, Monroe supporters!  I truly hope you are all doing well and finding ways to have moments of peace and relaxation.  Here are some updates on Monroe City Life and myself.

Ministry Update:
This was Alondra's last month serving as a City Life & Student Leader intern!  She has been such a blessing to the community and so helpful in many ways.  When her job description had to be modified earlier in the year with leadership transitions, she stayed flexible and loyal to the Student Leaders and City Life and for that she is a great leader.  I’m lucky enough to have had her on our team and to call her a great friend.  Alondra, you have been such a positive impact in the Monroe City Life community and I know you will continue to be a great influence for the youth in our neighborhoods.

Personal Update:
For me, this month has been difficult both mentally and emotionally.  With the political/racial tensions and COVID cases rising in our country, it becomes more and more difficult to stay positive and hopeful for the rest of this summer and this coming school year.  At times, I feel that I pressure myself to act and work as if everything will be normal in the fall, but my mind is just overwhelmed. When I feel overwhelmed or stressed out, I fall into the habit of retreating and shutting down in an attempt to slow down time.  I continue to learn to have grace for myself and not compare my efforts or productivity to others.  God is good and I know He will guide me through this journey.

  • Join us in praying over each student's family: favor in the parents' work, finances, food supply, and family relationships.
  • Pray that our government officials would do what's right and be held accountable to bring justice to those who deserve it.
  • Pray that those in place to make important decisions on what school will look like this coming year would have the wisdom to make the right decisions and that those decisions would keep everyone safe and healthy and be practical.
  • Pray that I would have peace, wisdom, guidance, and clarity in how to direct City Life in the fall and what that will look like.
  • Pray that God would bless Alondra for interning with us this past year.
