ONE NIGHT // "Kinda Like A Dad"

By Warren Mainard, CORE & Youth Ministry Network Director

Over the last couple of months, I have been able to meet with, mentor and encourage a growing number of Youth Pastors and Youth Ministry leaders.  A few of the youth leaders have described me as "kinda like a Dad for us Youth Pastors."  Admittedly, this description caught me a little off guard as I don't see myself as being that much older, but I am embracing the growing influence that God is entrusting to me in the lives of those who are leading the next generation of students.  I am thankful for the opportunity to  offer a listening ear, some words of wisdom and encouragement and a person who can empathize with the unique struggles of Youth Leaders whom they know they can trust.  I am thankful for YFC and it's Kingdom commitment to serve the local church in this unique way.  I am also thankful for you and your prayers and support... when you invest in me, you are also investing in all of the youth leaders and their students whom I get to serve!

On Friday night, we had our most recent ONE NIGHT!  While we had a number of Youth Ministries which had scheduling conflicts, it was still an amazing night of worship and God was moving all throughout the room! A few of the highlights include -

  • We had an incredible group of young leaders from YWAM's Circuit Riders ministry who jumped in to serve in a powerful way! There is nothing more inspiring to students than to see young people a few years older than them serving, praying and worshiping with reckless abandon.
  • Students leading worship and sharing testimonies.  On Friday night, we had several students from a wide variety of churches who helped lead their peers in worship and through video testimonies.  The impact of empowering students for ministry goes well beyond the evening.
  • YFC purchased 25 pizzas for the event.  Three of those pizzas were left over and made their way to a few homeless people in Seattle, which resulted in a powerful testimony of Gospel proclamation and healing!

PRAY

  • I am excited about the opportunity to take the lead on renovating our YFC INTERNSHIP program.  We are praying for 10-15 world-changers to join our 2020-2021 Internship program! We will have Internship opportunities in City Life, CORE, Media/Tech and in partnership with local churches.
  • Pray for our YFC Bellevue City Life Students as they prepare for their Winter Retreat.  These students have been working at a local church raising funds for their retreat costs and are only $200 away from their fundraising goal.
  • Pray for me as I have several opportunities to speak and lead in the next two months.  I am praying that God will allow me to effectively share the love of Christ as well as the vision of Saturate the Schools and CORE.
