Sometimes we get so caught up in the day to day grind of work, navigating COVID, and family that we easily forget how powerfully God is at work in us and all around us.

This past week, I was reminded of how much change can occur in a year in the life of our students. In January 2021, one of our amazing student leaders, Consuelo, celebrated a year of not being homeless. In February 2021, she celebrated her 18th birthday. All year she has been helping us lead the work we do in City Life. Last year while watching online church, she prayed to accept Jesus as her Savior. She openly shared her faith with her family which resulted in her brother starting his own faith journey, getting baptized and dedicating his daughters to Jesus. Last December, Consuelo herself was baptized!

While life is never just smooth sailing when we follow Jesus, we have watched with amazement as this young lady has caught up on school, achieved good grades, started her first job, and came on as a student leader with City Life! My conviction upon reflection of this past year with Consuelo is that we are to never underestimate God's power and work in the little moments of life because those little moments and decisions, in fact, serve to bring about large systemic and lifelong changes in the lives of our students, staff, and volunteers. And God is in and a part of all of it; always, always at work!

PRAISES

  • Thanks to Pastor Don Cain and Mill Creek 4 Square for our new site refrigerator and funds that were donated to help feed and store food for our families!
  • Our former student, Alex, has been able to increase his mobility. In December, we thought he was going to die, but now he is writing and moving his arms and legs!
  • Our student leader, Juan, was released from the hospital. He was there for 4 days after a major health scare. He is recovering slowly, but consistently!

PRAYERS

  • Pray for our students to stay motivated to finish strong with school! Online school has been a constant battle for ALL of our students!
  • Pray that our students would continue to be drawn to seek God: that they may have eyes to see His love for them, their families, and the community!
  • Pray for the continual healing of Alex and Juan!
