Got to Love February!

Hello, it’s me, Ritz! Our interns have done a great job sharing what God has been doing in Monroe City Life and now it’s my chance to share this month's update. February is the month of expressing love and appreciation for those we love. So we chose to treat our youth guys and girls to special days for each group.

For our boys, we took them to their favorite restaurant ever, Buffalo Wild Wings, as well as took them to various nearby shops. These boys bring me such joy and laughter and many headaches! It is extraordinary to see how much energy and attention they will give you when they feel safe and secure with leaders they can trust. If you know any adult males who would be interested in being a mentor so some of these young me please let me know as we are in need of male volunteers!

(Don’t mind the emojis. This was the only pic I found, but needed some fun modifications.)

For our lovely ladies, We threw a Galentine's party/dinner! We chowed down on pizza, Chick-fil-A, charcuterie boards, and delicious chocolate-covered strawberries. Emily Lucey, our guest speaker, spoke to our ladies on self-care and self-love. The girls got to write down any questions, thoughts, or ideas on what self-care was or meant to them then we had an open discussion. It was motivating to hear how some of our girls really valued self-care. I also learned that no matter how many encouraging leaders a student has, girls still continue to find it difficult to truly love themselves and their bodies which is heartbreaking. I know I can relate to feeling that way as a teen and even still as an adult!

Thank you, God, for allowing me to continue to minister to the young men and women of this community. Please help bring the right people for the right moments into our team. May you continue to grow in each student, volunteer, and leader as a seed and sprout into forests.

  • Pray for Andrea and Alondra as they register for college classes and continue to pursue their college education.
  • Pray for Michelle and Adriel Huerta, former students who just welcomed a baby girl into the world! Pray for good health for baby girl and lots of rest and energy for the first time parents!
  • Pray for Hannah Layson, our amazing volunteer, as her family enjoys their extended trip in California! Provide for them in whatever they would need and send lots of fun their way!
  • Pray for our Monroe community that still has work to be done to improve the leadership of our school district. Provide guidance and accountability where needed!
  • Pray for the continued good health and well-being of all our students, leaders, ministry partners, friends, and encouragers!

If you are interested in volunteering with us or providing meals and/or donations please check out our website and volunteer process. We would love to have you on our team!
